Brie Apple Grilled Cheese (Print Version)

Sourdough with creamy Brie and crisp apples melted together for a golden finish.

# What You'll Need:

→ Bread and Cheese

01 - 4 slices sourdough bread
02 - 120 grams (4 ounces) Brie cheese, rind removed if desired, sliced

→ Fruits

03 - 1 small crisp apple (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cored and thinly sliced

→ Spreads and Fats

04 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

# How to Make It:

01 - Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each sourdough slice.
02 - Place two bread slices buttered-side down. Layer half the Brie cheese on each, distribute apple slices evenly over the cheese, then top with remaining Brie.
03 - Cover with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
04 - Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Place sandwiches in skillet and cook 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently until bread is golden and cheese melted.
05 - Remove from skillet, let rest for one minute, then slice and serve warm.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The way the brie gets all gooey and creamy while the apple stays slightly crisp is pure magic
  • It takes a classic comfort food and makes it feel like something you'd order at a bistro
02 -
  • Low and slow is the secret here because high heat will burn the bread before the brie has time to melt properly
  • Thin apple slices are non negotiable or they wont cook through and youll get crunchy raw apple in every bite
03 -
  • Use a mandoline or very sharp knife to get paper thin apple slices that cook through evenly
  • Let the brie come to room temperature before slicing so it doesnt crumble and arranges more easily
